The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and more. Past winners include Michelle Obama, NASA, Jimmy Fallon, Questlove, Tyler Oakley, Conan O’Brian, Hannibal Buress, Malala Yousafzai, Lorde, Taylor Swift Susan Orlean and Alton Brown.
What happens on social media can change the world, create new stars and ignite global movements. The Shorty Awards were the first awards to honor social media, and by constantly evolving along with the medium it honors The Shortys remains the most prominent award show of its kind, engaging an online audience of millions and culminating in a blockbuster ceremony in New York City.
Winners are chosen through a combination of votes from the public and scores given by the Real Time Academy.

Baltimorean identical twins Cipriana and TK Quann were enamored with their former punk-rocker mother’s walk-in closet at five years old, and grew up borrowing each others’ clothes, obsessed with customizing and altering pieces to fit their distinctive looks…Since then, they branched out into editorials on fashion, lifestyle, and the black experience in a predominantly white industry and have been featured in Vogue, Glamour, and Essence, teaching women to embrace their natural hair and style.
