The Rundown
I know when it comes to microwavable deep conditioning caps, it seems like Hot Head has cornered the market. As someone who's had a Hot Head for years, and is now experiencing
Pydana's Thermal Cap, let me let you in on a lil' secret.
Pydana has the BEST microwavable deep conditioning cap - PERIODT. Yes, you can quote me on that.
Every single detail about the
Pydana Thermal Cap is engineered to perfection. I'm not just talking about the color and pattern (although this Okoye print is gawwwwjus!). I'm talking about how secure the elastic band is without squeezing my brain. How spacious the inside of the cap is to accommodate thicker, longer hair (and locs too!). How expertly crafted the inner contents of the cap are.
137% QUALITY all the way around.
Beyond superior construction, the performance of
Pydana's Thermal Cap is off the charts too. I heated mine for a total of 3 minutes following the card instructions (2 consecutive minutes, then 2 30-second increments), and found that the cap stayed warm well beyond the 20 minutes I needed to use it for. It didn't feel piping hot to the touch (thank God), but the gentle warmth was consistent and made my deep conditioning session that much more effective.
The bottom line - if you want to freely multitask around the house while maximizing your deep treatment time,
Pydana Collection is the way to go. Trust me.

Technically yes; contains keratin amino acids only.
Curly Girl Friendly?
Yes - The Avocado & Babassu Herbal Silk Deep Moisture Treatment is free from silicones, drying alcohols, shea butter, and coconut oil.
Active Ingredients
- Water
- Babassu Oil: Oil pressed from the kernel of the Brazilian Orbigynya Palm Tree, with a similar chemical composition to coconut oil. It is able to penetrate the hair (to a degree), improving moisture, strength, elasticity, softness, and shine of hair. It is a wonderful alternative for those who want the benefits of coconut oil, but don't care for it in the hair.
- Soybean Oil: Carrier oil used to lubricate and nourish the hair, providing softness and shine.
- Avocado Oil: Omega 3-rich nourishing oil extract that can enhances shine, moisture retention, softness, and elasticity in hair.
- Aloe Vera Juice: Acts as a natural conditioning agent that restores the hair's sheen, luster, and shine. It not only makes the hair soft, but it also enhances strength and suppleness.
- Sodium Lactate: Liquid salt preservative derived from the fermentation of sugar, mostly corn or beet.
The Good
Oh my gawwwwwd where do I start? I love EVERYTHING about the
Avocado & Babassu Herbal Silk Deep Moisture Treatment. This deep conditioner is an instant HG. Thick, rich, and creamy, this 8oz miracle jar has amazing slip and makes detangling drama a thing of the past. My favorite part though?
|
Hardly any white = perfect absorption! |
My low porosity sections LOVE it. Even though the
Avocado & Babassu Herbal Silk Deep Moisture Treatment is rich and creamy, it soaks right into my strands almost on contact. Combined with heat from my gorgeous Okoye Thermal Cap, even my frizziest strands were dancing for joy. Upon rinsing, my dramatically rough ends were GONE. The shine was impeccable. Softness? Off the freaking charts.
Want to know something funny? I kept rinsing my hair well beyond the normal rinse-out time because it felt too soft, and too moisturized to be product-free. So much unnecessary water down the drain, because I had
never experienced this level of hydration and smoothness from a deep conditioner before.
Literally, a miracle for my parched tresses in a jar. A little goes a long way - my hair was easily coated and there's still plenty left in the jar for future uses. The fragrance smells divine - light, sweet, and regal. Not aggressive, and barely noticeable after rinsing. But honestly, I wouldn't mind if my hair did hold on to the fragrance. I'd love to have this delightful aroma bottled up and sold as a room spray! I also got compliments on my hair smelling good at work!
The Bad
NOT. A. SINGLE. THING. Do you hear me?
NOTHING.
Except maybe, a bigger jar. Like, salon size. 🙏🏽
The Bottom Line
Honestly, everything above this line says it all. You've GOT to give this one a try for yourself.

Lush. Smooth. Shiny. AMAZING! |
The Good
You guys should know by now that I love me a good leave-in conditioner. Something that packs a punch, detangles like a dream, and helps envelop my curls in long-lasting moisture. The
Avocado Herbal Silk Leave-In Conditioner hit all those marks, and then some!
A little bit went a very long way in creating the braid and curl style in this blog post. Because my hair was already so moisturized from my deep conditioning sesh, a few dollops did my hair plenty of justice. The consistency is creamy and ultra moisturizing, but not too thick.
With a little warm water (that's my trick, low porosity folks!), the
Avocado Herbal Silk Leave-In Conditioner soaked right into my strands leaving little to no white residue behind. And for those of you guys who struggle with getting leave-ins to penetrate, y'all know that's a straight miracle!
The Bad
Again, I've got nothing. I won't even complain for a bigger bottle because I used so little, 8oz will last me for a looooong time.
The Bottom Line
If you need a leave-in that's going to penetrate with practically no effort, give the
Avocado Herbal Silk Leave-In Conditioner a try!

Curly Girl Friendly?
Yes - The Marula & Cupuacu Herbal Silk 3-in-1 Intensive Moisturizer is free from silicones, drying alcohols, shea butter, and coconut oil.
Active Ingredients
- Water
- Cupuacu Butter: Water absorbing emollient butter from a fruit tree of the chocolate family, native to the northern Amazon. High in essential fatty acids and phytosterols, it assists in improving hair and skin elasticity and overall appearance. Considered highly beneficial for brittle, dry hair due to the butter's ability to help hair retain water and prevent moisture loss
- Olive Oil: Olive Oil is rich in high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, which is good for hair growth. Both mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E are good for moisturizing, protecting and nourishing hair. Olive oil makes hair grow stronger and its emollient properties prevent hair loss.
- Marula Oil: Lightweight oil packed with nutrients and fatty acids that fight aging and signs of damage.
- Avocado Oil: Omega 3-rich nourishing oil extract that can enhances shine, moisture retention, softness, and elasticity in hair.
- Beet Sugar Extract: Amino acid (betaine) rich extract derived from beet sugar that aids in improving hair strength while helping to boost elasticity, smooth the cuticle, and help prevent breakage during styling.
- Rice Bran Oil: Antioxidant oil rich in vitamin E that helps prevent free-radical and oxidative damage to hair. Also rich in ceramides which penetrate the hair and restore moisture within the cortex.
The Good
I'm a believer in miracles. I'm also a believer in good science. Somewhere between the two exists the
Marula & Cupuacu Herbal Silk 3-in-1 Intensive Moisturizer.
I kid you not.
As I write this review, I'm trying to overcome the most intense case of hand-in-hair syndrome that I've had in a very long time. The hair I'm touching is soft. It's moisturized. It's defined.
It feels nothing like the hair I've grown to know and love. Not saying that my hair was a tumbleweed before, but I've spent the vast majority of my natural hair journey plagued by a rude, definition-less crown, rough ends, and a mixture of porosities.
And somehow - the
Marula & Cupuacu Herbal Silk 3-in-1 Intensive Moisturizer has transformed my hair into a singular, soft, supple, smooth-ended masterpiece.
For this braid and curl, I applied the
Marula & Cupuacu Herbal Silk 3-in-1 Intensive Moisturizer section by section, and brushed it through with my
Felicia Leatherwood Detangler Brush. Instant smoothness and no white residue sitting on top of my strands. I only used a tiny dab per braid, and my jar is still 97% full. I went under the dryer for over an hour, and emerged with my hair still hydrated as ever.
Miracles, y'all. Science and miracles.

The softness and moisture is unreal. |
The Bad
Not a single complaint. Except, can I bathe my entire life in this stuff? There are some other areas of my adulthood that are kinda ashy and could benefit from this exceptional level of moisture. Just sayin'.

See how smooth those ends are laying? |
The Good
Short. Sweet. To the point. Really, that's all there is to know about this oil. It's lightweight and packs a nutritive punch without being greasy. It smells ah-MAY-zing. I want to wear it as a body oil! And honestly, because the Marula & Cupuacu Herbal Silk 3-in-1 Intensive Moisturizer and Avocado Herbal Silk Leave-In Conditioner are so darn moisturizing, I just might wear it as a body oil.
I applied the
Luscious Locks Herbal Silk Hair Oil to the ends of my hair following the leave-in, for extra protection and lubrication against the plastic blue perm rods. My ends felt smooth, protected, and supple during the takedown and styling - which let me know this was the right move. It's also a great scalp oil!
The Bad
As I've mentioned previously, I'm not the biggest fan of soybean oil. But in the right formulation, it's work-withable. Regardless, I want to douse my life in the
Luscious Locks Herbal Silk Hair Oil because it smells sooooo good.
The Bottom Line
If you're looking for a lightweight serum-like oil to lock in all this amazing moisture, give
Luscious Locks Herbal Silk Hair Oil a try!
